One of the emerging talents on the West Kerry Coast art scene, much of Farr’s latest work is still firmly rooted in the heart and soul of the Dingle Peninsula. However, her recent sojourns in Paris, Niece and Andalusia have resulted not only in an exciting new body of work, but also in a broader palate, softer focus and new sense of romanticism.
Farr found particular inspiration at the Musee Rodin, where the famous artist lived and worked. Rodin’s monumental figures inhabit much of Farr’s paintings from this period, and, like Rodin’s marble masterpieces, her subjects are so absolutely human, so real and so terribly beautiful. The artist says of her time at the Musee: “I began to notice every fall of light, broken reflections in glass cases, crystal chandeliers bouncing light through the rooms, the sky pouring through long elegant windows to cast another chance element” . The excitement and lightness that Farr felt while working at the Musee clearly translated to her paintings .
Whatever the subject matter be it Farr’s figurative work or her land and seascapes achieve a quality of depth with her unmistakeable style of working oils up in layers, light on light and colour on colour to dazzling effect.
