– Winter, Chorca Dhuibhne –
Venue: The Greenlane Gallery Dingle
Opening: Saturday 3rd April at 7pm
“This is a series of paintings made in response to this winter on the Dingle peninsula. A frozen world where the never ordinary became extraordinary. I was fascinated by the colours in snow, and how everything was transformed utterly as light changed through the days. It began with the walk up the conor pass, closed to traffic the journey up the snow filled road was nothing short of magical, the familiar had become another country. This was the feeling I had on many other walks where I found places I thought I knew appearing uniquely changed. I was told as a student- don’t paint what you know, but what it looks like – The landscape of West Kerry never looked like this before, never so exciting or challenging. I do now wish I had more time for this show, I have lots of work that is just not ready. Let’s work on the theory that less is more!”
We look forward to seeing you at the Dingle Gallery next Saturday evening. Like Patsy, I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of this glistening winter. I only wish I could visually communicate to you my memories, thoughts and emotions in the way Patsy has done with these magnificent paintings.
