Adrienne Dooling

Some of my earliest memories of my Grandmother’s farm in Co. Cork are milk churns, donkeys,
carts, creameries, many many insects, birds, wildflowers, caterpillars, meadows, following my
brothers to climb walls into apple orchards, picking blackberries, making jam, repairing Dad’s
boat, fishing, running wild and free.
The study and practice of Eastern medicine over many years in the States brought a much
greater understanding of the direct connections of human, animal, plant energy systems to
Earth’s electromagnetic grid system and to the Universe. In the past, I usually painted about
breaking out of ego identity and its belief system of separation into which we were born and
are programmed by. It still prevails but is weakening immensely in the collective. I try living
from my heart and not my head and have much to thank my teachers for.
When I came home a number of years ago, migrating birds became a focus for drawing as they
live close by at different times of the year. I didn’t know then, that 63% of them are in decline
due to loss of habitat and food among other things. Ireland is a different place to the one I left.
Animals, plants & all of nature is alive, intelligent & conscious. One thing I learned quite clearly
in Hawaii was that when your heart is open and you respect Nature, She will reveal much to
you. These days, I listen more closely to my Mother who at 94 still loves to tell stories of a
country life gone by, where everyone, even in hard times, respected the land, nature and all
who lived there.
