Easter Exhibition – It’s never Too Young to Start

ITS NEVER TOO YOUNG TO START….

22 March 2008. Its never too young to start collecting or appreciating art – that was the message from the opening Greenlane Gallery’s highly anticipated Easter Group Show which runs from the 22 March – 12 April 2008. A crowd of over 100 guests including artists and art lovers of all ages mingled happily as the Dingle-based Gallery showcased the work of more than 20 of the country’s most promising young artists.

With subject matter ranging from liquorice allsorts to goldfish bowls and flying pigs, there was plenty to keep even the youngest guests engaged, and, with prices starting from less than €200, there were even a few like Georgina Steele (5), who proudly carried home their first works of art and got to meet the artist who created it.

Artists who attended on the night included Joby Hickey, Lynne Stratton, Heidi Wickham, Deirdre McKenny, Jenny McCarthy, Patsy Farr, Lisa Keegan and Michael Flaherty. Other guests included former Irish rugby international Mick Galwey and his wife Joan.

“We have had a huge amount of interest in this exhibition” says Greenlane Gallery owner, Susan Callery “not least because many of these artists have never shown in Kerry before. This is despite the fact that some are currently pursuing very successful careers both at home and abroad and are extremely collectable. This show is a very good starting point for those wishing to invest in contemporary Irish art”.
