Bronze rotating on black marble base.

Edition of 3/9

25 x. 43 x 20 cm

This playful, abstract pig was originally carved in stone from a block of Persian red travertine, a material with an unpredictable pattern of holes and a rich variety of colours throughout. The chisel marks and holes that formed the surface texture of the original carving were retained in the bronze casting. Only the snout, tail and the tips of the ears are clearly defined and polished to any degree. The bronze patina picks up the reds and ochres of the original stone, colours suited to the colouring of the pig. The playful element of the pig’s pose is furthered by rotating the sculpture on a pin on its black marble base.
